Monknewtown (Irish: Baile Nua na Manach, meaning “new town of the monks”), historically called Rathenskin, is a townland 3 km east of Slane in County Meath, Ireland. It stands on the right bank of the Mattock River, which feeds several historic watermills nearby and which forms approximately the townland’s eastern boundary with Keerhan and Sheepgrange townlands in County Louth. Neighbouring townlands to the south are Balfeddock, Knowth, and Crewbane, to the west Cashel, Mooretown, and Knockmooney. The northern boundary of Monknewtown with Kellystown is formed by a tributary of the Mattock River, while the southern boundary is formed by the N51 road. Other than the latter, only minor roads traverse the townland, among them L5606 from west to east.
A ford crosses the Mattock River in the northeastern part of the townland, connecting Monknewtown with Keerhan.
Monknewtown also stands on the northern edge of the Neolithic monument complex and World Heritage Site of Brú na Bóinne which includes the famous site of Newgrange.
Two Neolithic sites connected with Monknewtown are the nearby “ritual pond” and a henge.
The pond probably dates to the later Neolithic, being a later addition to the complex, and consists of a 2 meter high earth bank that creates a 30-meter diameter enclosure that is filled with water.
The site may have played a preliminary or final role in prehistoric activities connected with the tombs and other ritual sites to the south.

Painting Contractors Services in Monknewton
Are you contemplating giving your house or business a new look? Do you have to fix water stains on walls and ceilings or over walls in which mold has been removed? It could be tempting to do the job yourself, which can result in cost savings. However, there are lots of reasons you should consider hiring a professional painter and decorator service.
Costs of Equipment
Proper painting of either interiors or exteriors requires an investment in gear — brushes, rollers, sprayers, tarp to protect surfaces and floors, ladders, scaffolding, sanders, compound knifes, patching materials, solvents, the list can quickly become long and pricey. Employing a professional painter and decorator usually means that the painter comes will all the tools they will require to do the work correctly, will wash up those tools when they are done and will require them away to be saved elsewhere.
Protection of Your Premises and Preventing a Mess
A professional painter and decorator will have the right gear and be knowledgeable and experienced with how to protect furniture, floors, cupboards, paths and other things that you don’t want painted from any damage. If your work involves staining, an expert will have the right equipment and experience to use the stain properly to achieve the right finish and once achieved, shield that finish.
A professional painter may even thoroughly clean up the work area when the project is finished.
Planning is Key
A professional painter and painter is going to learn that preparation is the trick to a great looking, long-lasting paint job. The walls or other surfaces which have to be painted may have to be thoroughly cleaned, patched, degreased and/or primed. Areas with water or mold staining may require further treatment and patching before they are ready for a final paint job. It’s a lot of work and if it is not done properly with proper tools and methods, it won’t lead to a quality finish.
Skills and Patience
Painting takes patience to generate a gorgeous quality finish and it also takes skill that is developed with practice and expertise. A professional will learn how to finish each of their preparation and painting tasks involved to achieve the best effect.
A professional painter may also know the materials which are required to perform the work correctly. Which primer will offer the correct coverage? Latex or oil? Matte, semi-gloss, high gloss? Which primer foundation is demanded? What paint foundation? Roller or spray?
A professional painter will be able to recommend materials which are better to get the look you need, while avoiding any damage to your surfaces. With this information, you can attain a higher quality finish that will last.
For outdoor tasks, a professional will know the right weather, temperature and sun conditions to finish the job with the best results. Stains react differently in direct sunshine than when it’s overcast, and at several temperatures. While rain obviously impacts the job, humidity and heat can also affect the quality of outside paint finishes. A local expert painter will understand the proper stuff to use to make your exterior last as long as possible in Dublin’s climate.

Increasing on ladders while trying to apply paint correctly is a skilled job that requires careful focus and attention to prevent serious injury and damage. The greater the site that needs painting, the greater the danger of an accident. For interior projects with high areas or outside jobs, an expert painter may have all the tools and experience required to do the job correctly and safely, including the right size and layout of ladder and scaffolding.
Your time is precious and painting yourself takes a substantial quantity of time. Having a professional painter and decorator take care of the job for you can save you days and times of effort, and can normally be done in a much shorter time period.
A research from Trinity College Dublin suggests the average Irish person needs 28 hours daily to accomplish all his or her tasks. Avoid adding a paint job to this and talk to a professional painter about your needs.
