Island Bridge (Irish: Droichead na hInse) (formerly Sarah or Sarah’s Bridge) is a road bridge spanning the River Liffey, in Dublin, Ireland and joining the South Circular Road to Conyngham Road at the Phoenix Park.

Island Bridge and the surrounding area are so named because of the island formed here by the creation of a mill race towards the right bank while the main current flows to the left. The River Camac emerges from a tunnel further downstream towards Dublin Heuston railway station.

In 1577, during the reign of Queen Elizabeth, while Sir Henry Sidney was Lord Deputy of Ireland, an arched stone bridge was built here to replace an earlier structure nearby at Kilmainham.

This bridge was swept away by a flood in 1787, and between 1791 and 1793 the replacement bridge, that is standing today, was constructed. The structure is a single 32-metre span ashlar masonry elliptical arch bridge and was originally named Sarah’s Bridge after Sarah Fane, Countess of Westmorland, wife of the then Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, who laid the first stone on 22 June 1791.

The bridge was renamed Island Bridge in 1922 following independence from Britain of the Free State, similarly to many other Dublin bridges originally named for British peers.

Painters Services in Islandbridge

Are you contemplating giving your home or business a fresh look? Do you need to repaint after a tenant has vacated your property? Do you have to fix water stains on walls and ceilings or over walls where mold has been removed? It may be tempting to do the job yourself, which can result in cost savings. However, there are many reasons you should consider selecting a professional painter and decorator service.

Costs of Equipment

Employing a professional painter and decorator means that the painter comes with of the tools that they will require to do the work correctly, will wash up those tools when they’re done and will require them away to be saved elsewhere.

Protection of Your Property and Avoiding a Mess

A professional painter and decorator will have the ideal equipment and be educated and knowledgeable about the way to shield furniture, flooring, cabinets, walkways and other items that you don’t want painted from any damage. If your job involves staining, an expert will have the correct equipment and experience to apply the stain properly to attain the perfect finish and once achieved, shield that finish.
A professional painter may also completely clean up the work area once the project is completed.

Planning is Key

A professional painter and painter is going to learn that preparation is the trick to a good looking, long-lasting paint job. The walls or other surfaces which need to be painted may need to be thoroughly cleaned, repaired, degreased and/or primed. Areas with water or mold staining may require further treatment and patching before they are prepared for a final paint job. It’s a lot of work and if it’s not done properly with proper tools and methods, it won’t lead to an excellent finish.

Skills and Patience

Painting takes patience to produce a beautiful excellent finish and it also takes skill that is developed with training and expertise. A professional will learn how to complete each of the preparation and painting jobs involved to achieve the best outcome.

A professional painter will also know the materials which are needed to perform the job right. Which primer will provide the right coverage? Oil or latex? Which primer foundation is required? What paint foundation? Roller or spray?
A professional painter will be able to recommend materials which are better to get the look you need, while avoiding any damage to your surfaces. With this advice, you can attain a greater quality finish that will last.
For exterior jobs, a specialist will know the right weather, temperature and sun conditions to finish the job with the best results. Stains react differently in direct sunshine than when it’s overcast, and at several temperatures. While rain obviously affects the job, humidity and heat may also impact the quality of exterior paint finishes. A local expert painter will understand the proper stuff to use to make your exterior last as long as you can in Dublin’s climate.

Security

Increasing on ladders while attempting to apply paint properly is a skilled job which takes careful attention and focus to avoid serious harm and damage. The greater the site which requires painting, the higher the risk for an accident. For interior projects with large areas or outside jobs, a professional painter may have all the tools and experience required to perform the work correctly and safely, including the right dimensions and layout of the ladder and scaffolding.

Convenience

Your time is precious and painting yourself takes a substantial amount of time. Using a professional painter and decorator deal with the job for you can save you days and days of work, and can normally be achieved in a much shorter time period.
A study from Trinity College Dublin indicates that the average Irish man requires 28 hours daily to accomplish all of his or her tasks. Avoid including a paint job to this and talk to a professional painter about your requirements.
