Grangecon (Irish: Gráinseach Choinn, meaning “Granary of the Hound”) is a village in County Wicklow, Ireland. It has a population of about 200 people, and is located between Baltinglass and Dunlavin.
While the name Grange Con is said to be of Celtic origin the earliest recorded history of it is from the Middle Ages when the Abbot of Baltinglass Abbey had a castle built there. The monks are also said to have had a mill there powered by the local stream. Most of the surrounding land belonged to the Abbey at the time.
Following the dissolution of the monasteries, Thomas Eustace was in 1541 made Viscount Baltinglass and granted the lands of the Abbey including the Castle and lands at Grangecon. These were forfeited in 1581 following a rebellion by the third Viscount and subsequently granted to Sir Henry Harrington. It appears that these lands remained in the Harrington family for a number of generations.
The house at Grangecon Demesne later became the seat of the O’Mahony clan and remained so until about 1930 when Pierce O’Mahony, the last “the O’Mahony” died. See for more detailed information about the O’Mahony connection with Grangecon.
Some ruins of an older castle still exist in the grounds but these are quite minimal.
Grangecon Demesne is now home to the well-known Grangecon Stud, breeder of top grade thoroughbred racehorses.

Painting and Decorating Services in Grangecon
Are you contemplating giving your house or business a fresh look? Do you have to repaint after a tenant has vacated your property? Do you need to repair water stains on ceilings and walls or over walls in which mould was removed? It could be tempting to do the task yourself, which may result in cost savings. But, there are lots of reasons you should consider selecting a professional painter and decorator support.
Prices of Equipment
Proper painting of either interiors or exteriors requires an investment in gear — brushes, rollers, sprayers, tarp to shield surfaces and floors, ladders, scaffolding, sanders, chemical knifes, patching materials, solvents, the list can quickly become long and expensive. Hiring a professional painter and decorator usually means that the painter comes will all of the tools that they will need to do the job properly, will wash up those tools whenever they’re completed and will require them away to be saved elsewhere.
Protection of Your Property and Avoiding a Mess
A professional painter and decorator will have the right equipment and be knowledgeable and experienced with the way to protect furniture, flooring, cabinets, walkways and other items that you don’t need painted from any damage. If your work entails staining, a professional will have the right equipment and expertise to apply the stain properly to attain the perfect finish and once achieved, shield the finish.
A professional painter will also completely clean the work area once the project is finished.
Planning is Essential
An expert painter and painter will know that preparation is the trick to a great looking, long lasting paint job. The walls or other surfaces that need to be painted might have to be thoroughly cleaned, repaired, decreased and/or primed. Areas with mold or water staining may require further therapy and patching before they are ready for a last paint job. It’s a good deal of work and if it’s not done correctly with proper instruments and methods, it won’t result in a quality finish.
Skills and Patience
Painting requires patience to generate a gorgeous excellent finish and it also takes skill that’s developed with training and expertise. A professional will understand how to finish all their preparation and painting jobs required to reach the best outcome.
Back in Dublin, there are a number of options a professional painter and decorator can start to you, that you may not have the skills or experience to do yourself, including special finishes (intumescent finishes (which are fireproof), faux finishes and textured painting, by way of example).
A professional painter will also understand the substances which are needed to perform the job right. Which primer will provide the correct coverage? Oil or latex? Which primer foundation is required? What paint base? Spray or roller?
A professional painter will be able to recommend materials that are better to get the look you need, while preventing any damage to your surfaces. With that information, you can attain a greater quality finish that will last.
For exterior jobs, a specialist will understand the right weather, temperature and sunlight conditions to finish the job with all the best outcomes. Stains respond differently in direct sunlight than when it’s overcast, and at several temperatures. While rain obviously affects the job, heat and humidity may also impact the quality of outside paint finishes. A local professional painter will understand the right stuff to use to produce your exterior last as long as possible in Dublin’s climate.
Climbing on ladders while attempting to apply paint correctly is a skilled job that requires careful focus and attention to avoid severe harm and harm. The higher the site which needs painting, the higher the danger of an accident. For interior jobs with large areas or exterior jobs, an expert painter may have all the resources and expertise required to do the job correctly and safely, including the proper dimensions and design of ladder and scaffolding.
Your time is valuable and painting yourself takes a substantial quantity of time. Having a professional painter and decorator deal with the work for you can save you days and times of effort, and can usually be done in a far shorter period of time.
A study from Trinity College Dublin indicates the average Irish person needs 28 hours daily to accomplish all his or her tasks. Prevent adding a paint job into that and speak to a professional painter about your requirements.
