Grangecon (Irish: Gráinseach Choinn, meaning “Granary of the Hound”) is a village in County Wicklow, Ireland. It has a population of about 200 people, and is located between Baltinglass and Dunlavin.

While the name Grange Con is said to be of Celtic origin the earliest recorded history of it is from the Middle Ages when the Abbot of Baltinglass Abbey had a castle built there. The monks are also said to have had a mill there powered by the local stream. Most of the surrounding land belonged to the Abbey at the time. [1]
Following the dissolution of the monasteries, Thomas Eustace was in 1541 made Viscount Baltinglass and granted the lands of the Abbey including the Castle and lands at Grangecon. These were forfeited in 1581 following a rebellion by the third Viscount and subsequently granted to Sir Henry Harrington. It appears that these lands remained in the Harrington family for a number of generations.

The house at Grangecon Demesne later became the seat of the O’Mahony clan and remained so until about 1930 when Pierce O’Mahony, the last “the O’Mahony” died. See [3] for more detailed information about the O’Mahony connection with Grangecon.
Some ruins of an older castle still exist in the grounds but these are quite minimal.
Grangecon Demesne is now home to the well-known Grangecon Stud, breeder of top grade thoroughbred racehorses. [4]

Are you considering giving your house or business a new look? Do you need to repaint after a tenant has vacated your own property? Do you have to fix water stains on walls and ceilings or over walls where mold has been removed? It may be tempting to do the task yourself, which can result in cost savings. However, there are many reasons you should consider hiring a professional painter and decorator service.

    Prices of Equipment

Proper painting of either interiors or exteriors requires an investment in equipment — brushes, rollers, sprayers, tarp to shield surfaces and surfaces, ladders, scaffolding, sanders, chemical knifes, patching materials, solvents, the list can quickly become long and pricey. Hiring a professional painter and decorator means that the painter comes with the tools they will require to perform the work correctly, will clean those tools up whenever they’re done and will require them away to be stored elsewhere.

Protection of Your Property and Preventing a Mess

A professional painter and decorator will have the right equipment and be educated and knowledgeable about the way to protect furniture, flooring, cabinets, walkways and other items that you don’t need painted from any harm. If your work entails staining, an expert will have the correct equipment and experience to apply the stain correctly to attain the perfect finish and once attained, shield that finish.
A professional painter may even thoroughly clean the work area once the job is completed.

    Preparation is Key

An expert painter and painter will know that preparation is the trick to a great looking, long-lasting paint job. The walls or other surfaces that need to be painted might have to be thoroughly cleaned, patched, degreased and/or primed. Areas with water or mold staining may require further therapy and diluting until they are ready for a final paint job. It is a lot of work and if it is not done properly with appropriate tools and methods, it won’t result in an excellent finish.

    Skills and Patience

Painting takes patience to produce a beautiful excellent finish and in addition, it takes skill that’s developed with training and expertise. A professional will understand how to complete all their preparation and painting tasks required to achieve the best effect.
In Dublin, there are a number of options a professional painter and decorator can start for you, that you may not have the skills or experience to do your self, including specific finishes (intumescent finishes (which are fireproof), faux finishes and textured painting, for instance ).
A professional painter may also understand the materials that are needed to perform the work correctly. Which primer will offer the correct coverage? Oil or latex? Which primer foundation is demanded? What paint foundation? Spray or roller?
A professional painter will be able to recommend materials that are better to get the look you want, while preventing any damage to your surfaces. With this information, you can attain a greater quality finish that will endure.
For exterior jobs, a specialist will understand the right weather, temperature and sun conditions to complete the job with all the best outcomes. Stains react differently in direct sunlight than when it’s overcast, and at different temperatures. While rain clearly impacts the job, heat and humidity may also impact the quality of exterior paint finishes.

    Safety

Climbing on ladders while trying to apply paint correctly is a skilled job that requires careful attention and focus to avoid severe injury and damage. The greater the website which requires painting, the higher the risk for an accident. For interior jobs with high areas or exterior jobs, a professional painter may have all the resources and experience required to perform the job safely and correctly, including the proper dimensions and layout of ladder and scaffolding.

    Convenience

Your time is valuable and painting yourself takes a significant quantity of time. Using a professional painter and decorator deal with the work for you can save you days and days of work, and can usually be done in a far shorter period of time.
A study from Trinity College Dublin indicates that the average Irish man requires 28 hours per day to accomplish all his or her tasks. Avoid adding a paint job to this and talk to a professional painter about your requirements.
