Donard (historically Dunard, from Irish: Dún Ard, meaning ‘high fort’) is a small village in County Wicklow, Ireland, located at the northern end of the Glen of Imaal, in the western part of the Wicklow Mountains.

Donard takes its name from Dún Ard – High Fort – the ruins of which are still somewhat visible on a rise above the town. The tranquil village is surrounded by Table Mountain (702m), Church Mountain (546m), Lugnaquilla (924m) and Keadeen (655m).

Nearby in Derrynamuck (also known as Dernamuck or Doire na Muc) is a cottage dedicated to the memory of Michael Dwyer, a celebrated 1798 leader. It is well known as Dwyer’s Cottage, or the Dwyer-McAllister cottage, for it was here that a group of Irish rebels led by Michael Dwyer were hiding when they were surrounded by British troops. Samuel McAllister died when he drew enemy fire to allow Dwyer to escape, and thereby prevent further bloodshed as the British troops were killing innocent farmers in nearby cottages to reach Dwyer.

The highest mountain in Wicklow and one of the highest mountains in Ireland, second only to Carrauntoohil in Co. Kerry is Lugnaquilla, which can be accessed near the village of Donard. This mountain has a height of 925 metres(3,035ft). The Wicklow Mountain Rescue team operates in the area.

Much of the surrounding Glen of Imaal (5,948 acres) has been used as an army artillery range since 1900.

A post office was opened in Donard in 1851 and An Post closed it at the end of 2018.

Are you contemplating giving your home or business a new look? Do you have to repair water stains on ceilings and walls or over walls in which mold was removed? It could be tempting to do the task yourself, which may lead to cost savings. However, there are many reasons you should consider selecting a professional painter and decorator service.

Prices of Equipment

Hiring a professional painter and decorator usually means that the painter comes will all of the tools that they will require to do the job correctly, will clean up those tools whenever they are done and will require them away to be stored elsewhere.

Protection of Your Premises and Avoiding a Mess

A professional painter and decorator will have the ideal equipment and be knowledgeable and knowledgeable about the way to protect furniture, floors, cupboards, paths and other things which you don’t want painted from any damage. If your job involves staining, a professional will have the correct equipment and experience to apply the stain correctly to attain the perfect finish and once achieved, protect the finish.
A professional painter will even completely clean up the work area once the job is finished.

Planning is Key

A professional painter and painter is going to learn that preparation is the trick to a great looking, long lasting paint job. Areas with water or mold staining may require further treatment and patching before they are prepared for a last paint job. It is a good deal of work and if it is not done properly with proper instruments and methods, it won’t result in a quality finish.

Skills and Patience

Painting takes patience to produce a beautiful excellent finish and in addition, it takes skill that’s developed with practice and expertise. An expert will understand how to complete each of the preparation and painting tasks involved to reach the best outcome.
In Dublin, there are a number of options a professional painter and decorator can start for you, which you could not have the skills or expertise to do yourself, including specific finishes (intumescent finishes (that are fireproof), faux finishes and textured painting, by way of example).
A professional painter may also understand the substances which are required to do the job right. Which primer will provide the correct coverage? Oil or latex? Which primer foundation is demanded? What paint base? If the wall be well prepared with drywall compound or plaster? Roller or spray?
A professional painter will have the ability to recommend materials that are better to achieve the look you need, while preventing any harm to your surfaces. With that advice, you can attain a higher quality finish that will last.
For exterior jobs, a specialist will understand the ideal weather, temperature and sun conditions to finish the job with all the best results. Stains react differently in direct sunlight than when it is overcast, and at different temperatures. While rain clearly impacts the job, humidity and heat can also impact the quality of outside paint finishes. A local professional painter will know the proper materials to use to produce your exterior last as long as you can in Dublin’s climate.

Safety

Climbing on ladders while attempting to apply paint properly is a skilled job which requires careful focus and attention to avoid serious harm and damage. The greater the site which needs painting, the higher the danger of an crash. For inside jobs with large areas or exterior jobs, an expert painter may have all the tools and experience necessary to do the job safely and correctly, including the right dimensions and design of ladder and scaffolding.

Your time is precious and painting yourself takes a significant amount of time. Having a professional painter and decorator deal with the work for you can save you days and days of work, and can normally be done in a far shorter period of time.
A study from Trinity College Dublin indicates the average Irish person requires 28 hours daily to accomplish all his or her tasks. Avoid including a paint job into that and speak to a professional painter about your requirements.
